About Engenius Tuition

After qualifying as an outstanding Secondary English Teacher in 2013, Emma started providing private tuition in her spare time, in English, Maths, and common entrance exams. Within the space of just two weeks, she was fully booked, and had several other tutors working for her.
It became apparent to Emma that many people wanted to employ the services of a tutor, but she simply didn’t have enough time for everyone, and found herself begrudgingly turning tutees away.
Though her heart was in tutoring, Emma decided to focus on gaining experience teaching in a school setting, especially since teaching was so new to her. She was promoted to Leader of Literacy across the Curriculum very quickly, with a further promotion to Head of KS3 English in her third year of teaching. These promotions taught Emma so much about both herself and teaching, with the experience proving invaluable.
In January 2017, Emma decided to make the leap into self-employment! She was able to re-launch Engenius Tuition, on a full-time basis, and has tutored full-time ever since. The business has gone from strength-to strength, with 33 children currently receiving weekly tuition. Workshops and mocks exams are now offered throughout the year in addition, making Engenius Tuition so much more than just a tuition company.
Emma says, “Teaching is the ideal ‘job’ for me, if I can even call it that! I absolutely love it. I am lucky enough to get to meet and support so many lovely families, whilst also working my schedule around my young family. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than assisting a child to completely transform their academic ability. I help lots of children who are lacking confidence, or who are behind their peers at school, yet after a relatively short space of time, their grades are ‘exceeding’ and they have buckets loads of confidence! I simply cannot stress how effective an hour of 1:1 tutoring per week can be.”
